ROOMS... There are 15 dorm rooms with 4 beds per room & 5 private double rooms which also sleep up to 4 people with one double bed and one set of bunks. Heaters, fresh clean linen, pillows & blankets are supplied in all of the rooms. Rooms are set amongst the bush, some have sea views, many have beautiful bush and mountain views. All rooms are in close proximity to bathroom & kitchen facilities. Some rooms have hammocks & sunny decks outside for relaxing on.

FREE PICK UPS & DROP OFFS FROM RAGLAN TOWNSHIP are available for anyone coming to stay. Guests can enjoy the usual & not so usual facilities of our backpackers. Over the years travellers have added to the ART WORK which you'll find dotted around the lodge. Check out the whale of Whale Bay, Erin's bush nymph & other awesome creations!

KITCHENS...There are two kitchens that are fully equipped with microwaves, ovens,large fridges, pots, pans and other cooking, eating & cleaning utensils. Enjoy cooking in our large kitchen next to the main lounge or in the smaller kitchen downstairs which opens up to an outdoor pation area. A BBQ & gas bottle is supplied for guest use.

BATHROOMS... Gas hot water showers & toilets are in close proximity to all rooms. There are two bathroom blocks including 3 showers in each (male & female blocks) & two private bathroom units with shower & toilet available for all guests. We aim always to keep our facilities clean & tidy for you.

SAUNA... A Scandinavian style sauna is on every evening & free for guests to use. Steam up till you're cooking, then pop out to the outdoor shower for a quick refreshing cool off then back to the sauna. Repeat until done. A must for those guests who have been busy tramping the mountain, surfing or exploring the rocky Whale Bay coastline.

BUSH TECHNO... We may be located in a bush paradise 8kms from town but we're not completely isolated! Keeping you connected are Broadband internet facilities, SKY TV with all the channels including sports & movies on a 42 inch plasma TV, DVD & video player, a small collection of DVD's and Videos & a guest telephone with phone cards. Daily runs to Raglan Township are also available.

ADVENTURE & SPORTS... The infamous adrenaline zipline (a.k.a flying fox), ropes course, bush loop track,direct access to the Mt Karioi tramp, sports barn with basketball/table tennis, pool table, dart board & mountain bikes will keep you busy during your stay. Not to mention the amazing surf at your doorstep, daily surf lessons running everyday in Winter & twice daily in Summer & discounted half day surfboard & wetsuit hire for guests.

LOOK OUT!... Spectacular sunsets, sunrises plus checking out the local wildlife are easily done at Karioi Lodge. The look-out point with big round deck and seating for hanging out gives you 360 degree views of the mountain & Tasman Ocean. Check the surf, do yoga, enjoy the sun or a few drinks on happy hour & you'll be close to heaven! Glow worms are visible everynight and during the day check out the native wood pigeons & Tuis!

SUSTAINABLE GARDEN PROGRAMME & FRESH ORGANIC PRODUCE... The Karioi Lodge has developed permaculture gardens producing free-range eggs, vegetables & fruit. Guests who are keen to learn or work are often able to join in while helping to pay for their accommodation with us.

THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS... You can experience the amazing scenery, adventure activities & beach culture of Whale Bay by staying at the Karioi Lodge & also enjoy shopping, cafes, markets & the other delights of Raglan Township by taking advantage of our daily runs to town. We also offer daily transport to sandy Ngarunui Beach (halfway between town & Whale Bay). Our office staff will help you to plan your day no problem!

KARIOI LODGE OFFICE... our primo office staff will also help you to organise other fun Raglan activities to do during your stay. For instance there's Coastal Horse Trekking with Wild Coast Ruapuke, Magic Mountain Horse Treks that can take you on a trek to Bridal Veil Falls, Harbour Cruises to see the Limestone formations in Raglans harbour, Fishing Charters, Kayaking with Raglan Eco Kayaks including wicked sunset kayak trips, Golf & Learning to Kitesurf.
